A. Maybe because you do "over-washing "

Excessive skincare, especially over-cleansing, is often a root cause of many skin issues.

While cleansing helps remove dirt from the skin, over-cleansing can strip away essential moisturizing components like Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF) and ceramides, which are crucial for maintaining the skin's barrier function.

Harsh cleansing agents can turn into "over-cleansing" for skin with compromised barrier function, washing away moisture that should be retained in the skin.

In the case of healthy skin, lost moisturizing components can sometimes be replenished naturally by sebum secretion and other means.

However, for sensitive or inflamed skin, the recovery ability of the lipid barrier might be weakened, potentially leading to skin problems.

To protect the skin's barrier function, it's important to be mindful of "over-cleansing" or leaving residues behind.

Therefore, appropriate facial cleansing is indispensable. But what constitutes proper facial cleansing?

   1. To minimise friction, use a foaming net to create a lather and wash the face gently.
   2. Limit the contact time of the facial cleanser to 30 seconds to 1 minute.
   3. Rinse with lukewarm water (36°C to 39°C).
   4. Choose an amino acid-based facial cleanser to maintain the skin's pH balance.

Though seemingly trivial, proper facial cleansing maximizes the effectiveness of subsequent skincare steps.

Nurturing the "basic strength of the skin," which enhances the skin's barrier function, is the most crucial aspect for maintaining a natural and healthy skin.

We trust that this journal has emphasized the significance of proper face washing as the cornerstone of moisturizing care.
