What is the difference between ‘Pure Vitamin C’ and ‘Vitamin C Derivatives’?

Hold on ! At first, what are the benefits of vitamin C?

(1) An abundance of vitamin C can help the production of collagen in the skin.
(2) Reducing effect = it has the effect of preventing oxidation, so a skin-brightning effect can be expected. It can also be expected to tighten pores.(Skin-brightning = Correcting sparse pigmentation of the skin.)

Pure Vitamin C ( Official Name : Ascorbic Acid)

- This is plain vitamin C without without any chemical reaction changes.
- It works quickly when you put it on your skin.
- People also call it "active" or "fast-acting" vitamin C.
- But it can lose its power when it's exposed to air or water.

Vitamin C Derivatives

- These are altered forms of vitamin C.
- They're more stable than pure vitamin C.
- They come in different types that release slowly over time.
- This means they take longer to work, but they last longer and are easier on the skin.

Which is more effective for your skin concerns, Vitamin C or Vitamin C Derivatives?

Pure vitamin C, which is fast-acting, is the perfect way to deliver antioxidant vitamin C immediately where it needs to work.(e.g. Suppresses the production of melanin pigment, the source of blemishes, and inhibits pigmentation.)

VC derivatives are super stable and don't easily oxidize, unlike Pure Vitamin C.
They help reduce excess sebum and fight acne-causing bacteria, preventing new pimples and improving acne.

Conclusion !

Anyway, this article’s main point is that vitamin C is fragile.
Even if you dissolve powdered vitamin C just before using it to prevent it from breaking down, it's hard for it to reach deep into the skin where you want the full effect.

On the other hand, if you're exposed to UV rays right after applying a lot of pure vitamin C, a component called 'vitamin C radical', which isn't good for the skin, might come out and harm it.

This is just my personal opinion, but from a cosmetic dermatology perspective, if you're planning to use vitamin C skincare products, it's better to opt for those labeled 'provitamin C' or 'vitamin C derivative' instead of 'pure vitamin C = L-ascorbic acid' as they're safer and easier to use.

While pure vitamin C and its derivatives are powerful skincare ingredients aka Active Ingredients, they may not work well for everyone.
Some individuals with sensitive or reactive skin may experience irritation, dryness, peeling, and redness from certain vitamin C formulations.

So Please be careful when using Vitamin C products (*^^*)
